Leaders of South Ossetian NGOs criticize draft law on NGOs adopted by MPs in first reading
In South Ossetia, the draft law on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) adopted at first reading contains illogical and repressive provisions. This opinion was expressed by representatives of civil society.
Let us remind you that on May 7, the Parliament of South Ossetia approved in the first reading the law on non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The law contains the term of "foreign agent", and a number of NGOs speak out against it.
"We are categorically against such a term, and we treat the law as repressive. We believe it cannot be adopted in South Ossetia in the form, in which it has been presented today," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Lira Kozaeva-Tskhovrebova, Director of the Resource Centre of South Ossetian NGOs, Chair of the Association of Women of South Ossetia "For Democracy and Human Rights".
MPs have promised to consider the comments from representatives of civil society, which are to be presented for the second reading of the draft law. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by members of the South Ossetian NGOs.
