Dagestani FSB officer shot dead in Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, Major of the FSB Department for Dagestan was killed as a result of an armed attack. This was reported by the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for Dagestan. The Major has become the eighth law enforcement officer killed in Dagestan since the beginning of 2014.

The incident occurred on May 8 at about 10:10 p.m. Moscow time at the crossroad of Yaragsky and Ermoshkin Streets.

"Unidentified persons shelled a Toyota Land Cruiser car, and an FSB officer, who was in the car, died from the wounds," the RIA "Novosti" quotes a source from the law enforcement agencies of Dagestan as saying.

The deceased man was a senior officer of the Dagestani FSB. The assailants fled the place.

According to the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" and based on the edition's own materials and information from other open sources, in total, in Dagestan, since the beginning of 2014, eight law enforcers were killed and other 39 were wounded in armed attacks.
