On May 7 and 8, in Baku, the court sessions were held at the trial in the case against Anar Mamedli, the head of the Centre for Election Monitoring and Democracy Training (CEMDT), and two other civil society activists. The court listened to the testimonies of 18 witnesses. The witnesses were brought by prosecutors to participate in the trial; however, they did not testify about the commitment of any wrongdoing by the defendants. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that Anar Mamedli and his two colleagues Bashir Suleimanly, Director General of the CEMDT, and Elnur Mamedov, the leader of the Public Association for International Cooperation of Volunteers (PAICV), were accused of tax evasion, illegal entrepreneurship, and abuse of office. All three defendants deny the charges filed against them.

At the court session held on May 8, apart from other witnesses, the court listened to Mubariz Diniev, an accountant of the both NGOs and a key witness. Mubariz Diniev has stated that the financial records were kept in accordance with the requirements of the law and that he provided timely reports to the tax authorities and sponsors.
