Prosecutor asks jury to convict all defendants in Politkovskaya's murder case
Today, at the Moscow City Court (MCC), in the course of the parties' debates on the murder of the observer of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya, the state prosecution has completed its analysis of the evidence against the defendants. The prosecutor asked the jurors to find all the defendants in the case guilty and not deserving any leniency.
On May 14, the prosecution has been speaking to the jury for more than four hours. Finally, the prosecutor said that he considered the guilt of all the five defendants fully proved, including the alleged killer Rustam Makhmudov, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"The prosecution believes that Rustam was the killer: his phone was switched off at the moment of the murder, and the SIM card was found during a search of his home. Rustam himself failed to explain why he took the firearm from Pavlyuchenkov, and why his phone was switched off at the time of the crime," said the state prosecutor Maria Semenenko.
The next court session is scheduled for May 15.
