Chechen Prosecutor's Office demands to eliminate violations in investigation into disappearance of young woman wearing hijab
The criminal investigation into the disappearance of Aina Khabibulaeva, a 23-year-old local resident, is carried out by the investigating authorities improperly. This was announced by the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Aina Khabibulaeva, a 23-year-old resident of Grozny, a post-graduate student of the Institute of State and Law of the Chechen State University, disappeared under unclear circumstances on December 11, 2012, in Grozny. In October 2013, the Chechen Prosecutor's Office took control over the investigation into the case on disappearance of Aina Khabibulaeva.
This has been done after the father of the disappeared young woman filed a complaint to the supervisory authority. In his complaint, the man has stated that the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the Lenin District of Grozny failed to investigate properly the criminal case on the disappearance of his daughter.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office about the results of the new inspection. It has revealed that investigators failed to question a number of witnesses and to take appropriate actions that would contribute to reveal the whereabouts of the young woman.
"On the other day, the Chechen Deputy Prosecutor has filed a request to the Chief of the ICRF's Department for Chechnya to eliminate procedural violations," the source from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office has stated.
