Pyatigorsk signs agreement to allocate land for construction of mosque
The commission consisting of officials from the Government of the Stavropol Territory and the administration of the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Russian President in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) together with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) has determined a land plot near the city of Pyatigorsk to build a mosque. The agreement to allocate the land plot has been signed at the travelling meeting at the office of the SAM for the Stavropol Territory.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 13, Mukhammad Rakhimov, Chairman of the SAM for the Stavropol Territory, appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin and asked him to intervene with the situation around the construction of the mosque in Pyatigorsk.
Following the results of the meeting, the parties have agreed to allocate the land plot for construction of the mosque with area of 2.5 hectares within the boundaries of the Vinsady village council of the Predgorny Municipal District. This was reported on May 16 by the website "Stavropol News".
When delivering his speech after the signing of the agreement, Mukhammad Rakhimov has said that the land plot allocated in the Predgorny Municipal District fully meets all the stated requirements.
