Imam murdered in Dagestan was a relative of Aliaskhab Kebekov, leader of "Imarat Kavkaz", source reports

Omaraskhab Alibegov, the imam of the village of Stalskoe of the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, who was found murdered, was presumably kidnapped on May 14 by law enforcers. This was claimed by one of the relatives of the religious figure. The relatives have identified the murdered man as Omaraskhab Alibegov, who was a nephew of Abu Mukhammad (Aliaskhab Kebekov), the new leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz". This was reported by a source from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 16, in the Buynaksk District of Dagestan, law enforcers found a burned car with a man's body inside it. According to local residents, the victim was the imam of the mosque of the village of Stalskoe of the Kizilyurt District.

"After he [Omaraskhab Alibegov] had disappeared, his relatives became alarmed and began to search for him. On May 15, we managed to learn from unofficial sources that he had been detained," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a relative of the deceased man.

The imam's relatives learned that Omaraskhab Alibegov was kept at a MIA's unit. "A top-ranking official from the MIA told the relatives of Omaraskhab Alibegov that the detainee would be released soon and asked them not to make a fuss. However, at night of May 15, Omaraskhab Alibegov was found exploded in his own car," the man has said.

The relatives believe that "the imam was killed and then blown up to erase the traces of torture."
