In Dagestan, prosecutor asks six years in prison for "Pravozaschita" activist

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports with reference to a source from the City Court of Buynaksk, that the state prosecution has asked the court to sentence Zarema Bagavutdinova, an activist of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy), to six years in prison on charges of promoting terrorism.

Let us remind that Bagavutdinova is accused of recruiting Mamma Dalgatov, a native of Dagestan, in November 2011 for participating in the armed underground.

At the court session on March 20, Bagavutdinova's colleague told about pressure on Zarema by law enforcement bodies. On Tuesday, the court held parties' debates on Bagavutdinova's case, during which the defendant's lawyers and the prosecution presented their arguments, said the above source, adding that the state prosecution considered that the investigation had gathered enough evidence against Bagavutdinova, including witnesses' the testimonies, and asked the court to sentence her to six years in prison.
