The body of the man, which was found in a burnt car and recognized by relatives as Omaraskhab Alibegov, the Imam of the village of Stalskoe, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, was not officially identified; and no criminal case in connection with his death was initiated, said Rasul Temirbekov from the Investigating Committee. Relatives of Alibegov said that the funeral of the Imam took place on May 16, on the same day when the body was given out to his relatives.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on May 16, in the Buynaksk District of Dagestan, a burned down car was found with a man's body inside. The deceased was identified by relatives as Imam Omaraskhab Alibegov, born in 1974. According to relatives, Alibegov was kidnapped May 14, presumably, power agents; and on May 15 they became aware of his detention.

According to Rasul Temirbekov, Senior Assistant for Relations with Mass Media to the Head of the Dagestani Department of the ICRF, the check into the incident with the Imam continues, and a criminal case may be initiated, should there be respective grounds.

A source from the Kizilyurt ROVD (District Interior Division) said that officially Omaraskhab Alibegov was not registered by the MIA, he was never prosecuted, but shortly before the incident he was questioned in relation with the murder in April of Gadji Gasanguseinov, the Chairman of the Ullubiy Agrarian Cooperative in the Buynaksk District.

According to the source, Omaraskhab Alibegov was a relative of the new leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz" Aliaskhab Kebekov (Abu Mukhammad).
