Four KChR residents convicted on charges of creating IAF
The Supreme Court of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) has sentenced four local residents, accused of organizing an illegal armed formation (IAF) and participating thereof, to the terms from two to eight years in prison.
According to the case files, the IAF in the KChR was founded and headed by a local Shamil Balkarov. Later, he recruited other locals – Alexander Gribkin, Aslan Nartokov and Albert Lepshakov.
The convicts planned "to realize their criminal plans by violent seizure of power and violent change of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation," but their activities were stopped by law enforcers, the "Interfax-South" reports citing the Supreme Court of the KChR.
After serving their terms in colony, the convicts' freedom will be restricted for the periods ranging from four to eighteen months.
