Name of Russian officer wanted in Ukraine appears in six episodes of kidnapping in Chechnya, Alexander Cherkasov asserts

The materials about forced disappearances of six persons in Chechnya in 2001 include the name of Igor Strelkov, a Russian officer, who was put on the wanted list by the Ukrainian authorities. This was reported by Alexander Cherkasov, Chairman of the Board of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Igor Strelkov, who on April 13 took part in the attack on Ukrainian security forces in Slavyansk, is involved in the case on kidnapping of Supyan Taushev, a Chechen resident, committed in 2001. This was reported on April 17 by Dmitry Tymchuk, the head of the Ukrainian Centre for Military and Political Studies.

According to the HRC "Memorial", a man with the name of Strelkov is involved in at least four episodes of kidnappings near the Chechen village of Khatuni. As a result of those incidents, six persons disappeared, and their whereabouts are still not known.

Alexander Cherkasov notes that two sisters of a kidnapped person became suicide bombers. On August 24, 2004, one of them committed the terror act on the airplane on route Moscow-Volgograd, and the other one was involved in the assault of the school in Beslan on September 1, 2004.
