Volgograd resident holds solo picket against abolition of direct elections of local heads in the region
Today, near the building of the Regional Duma, Boris Pylin, the chairman of the public organization "Union for Local Residents of Volgograd Region", has held a solo picket against the abolition of the direct elections of heads of cities and districts. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to Boris Pylin, he was holding in his hands a poster reading: "Deputies! You've lost credibility! Let's have direct elections of heads of cities and regions! Let's have a referendum! And on September 14, residents will decide for themselves."
"I see the destruction of democracy," Boris Pylin told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. And he has continued: "This is a violation of citizens' rights. Residents have the right to elect the local authorities directly."
According to the head of the "Union for Local Residents of Volgograd Region", during his protest action, policemen photographed him and recorded his personal data. However, they did not prevent him to express his position at the solo picket.
