In Sochi, court sentences ex-policeman to 3.5 years in prison for beating builder of Olympic facilities

On May 26, the Adler District Court of Sochi found Sergey Kuznetsov, a former inspector of the patrol-and-post service (known as PPS), guilty of beating Pavel Solovyov, a builder at Olympic facilities. The Court has sentenced Sergey Kuznetsov to 3.5 years of imprisonment and obliged him to pay a fine. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early April 2013, Pavel Solovyov, a resident of Novosibirsk, who worked in Sochi at the construction of the facilities for the Olympic Games, was hospitalized in serious condition. Later, he claimed that he had been beaten by a policeman.

According to the expert opinion, Sergey Kuznetsov inflicted bodily harm on the victim that caused serious bodily injury. This was announced by the Court ruling.

The Court has sentenced the ex-policeman to 3.5 years of imprisonment and obliged him to pay a fine in the amount of 300,000 roubles in compensation for moral harm and 397,527 roubles in compensation for material damage.
