Alexander Ankvab has no chances to regain power, opposition states

In Abkhazia, the opposition has stated that Alexander Ankvab, who has refused to voluntarily leave his position of the president of the republic, has no chances to regain power.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on May 29, the Parliament of Abkhazia offered the Abkhaz President to resign. MPs have also expressed the vote of non-confidence to the Prime Minister. 20 out of 35 MPs voted "for" the decision, one MP abstained, and 14 other MPs were absent at the parliament session. Alexander Ankvab has stated that he is not going to leave his position.

The Alexander Ankvab's refusal to resign is an attempt to catch power. This opinion was expressed by Sergey Shamba, one of the leaders of the opposition, a member of the People's Council. The opposition leader believes that Alexander Ankvab has "no resources and no chances to regain power," the "Interfax" reports.

The Abkhaz opposition claims that it will form the interim government within the next two days. According to the opposition's plan, the cabinet of ministers will work till the presidential elections that are to be held after the Alexander Ankvab's resignation.
