About 40 persons with disabilities take part in marathon in KChR

The Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) has hosted the first "Marathon of Peace and Friendship", which was attended by about 40 persons with disabilities, wheelchair users, including children with disabilities. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The idea to hold a marathon in the republic, involving people with disabilities, was initiated by Svetlana Agapova, an athlete from the KChR, a winner of various competitions among people with disabilities. The idea was supported by Rashid Temrezov, the leader of the republic.

The marathon was held in the KChR on May 28. Participants of the marathon were met by Rashid Temrezov and Ruslan Tambiev, Mayor of Cherkessk.

"I am pleased to support the initiative to hold the marathon, and I will support it in the future. Unfortunately, at present, people of this category face a lot of problems. The KChR has declared this year to be the Year of People with Disabilities and Orphans. And this year, we try to improve the lives of people of this category. In this regard, we pay attention to creating a barrier-free environment in our republic," said Rashid Temrezov, the leader of the KChR.
