Sochi resident complains that wheelchair invalids have no access to City Prosecutor

Tatiana Kapustina, a resident of Sochi and Category I wheelchair invalid, said that she could not apply for and get access to City Prosecutor Mark Bolshedvorsky, because there is no ramp for wheelchair invalids in the building.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Kapustin family claims that the construction of Olympic facilities brought their house into the condition unfit for living. However, despite the conclusion of the examination, supporting the arguments of the family, the court dismissed the Kapustins' lawsuit.

On June 4, Tatiana Kapustina tried to reach the above Mark Bolshedvorsky personally to ask him to defend her rights.

However, she was unable to personally serve her application to the prosecutor on duty and make an appointment with the City Prosecutor, because, as she said, the building has no ramp for wheelchairs.

Ahead of the Olympics, city prosecutors had filed and won plenty of lawsuits against hundreds of entities demanding to secure accessible environment for invalids. In this case, people with disabilities or their relatives can initiate a similar lawsuit against prosecutors themselves, said Alexander Boichenko, the head of the Sochi Branch of the Moscow Bar Association.

Let us note here that guests of Sochi and athletes who took part in the 11th Paralympic Winter Games, held this March, complained about a number of infrastructural barriers.
