Said Amirov questioned in Rostov-on-Don
Said Amirov, the temporarily dismissed Mayor of Makhachkala, began testifying before the North-Caucasian District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don. He stated that both he and his nephew Yusup Djaparov, the former deputy mayor of Kaspiysk, are innocent.
It was reported that at the May 13 court session a number of witnesses linked conflict between Amirov and Murtazaliev with the struggle of the union of politicians from the northern regions of the republic "Northern Alliance" against the team of the Mayor of the capital of Dagestan. In particular, Marina Abramkina, the head of the Tarumov District of Dagestan, said that the peak of confrontation of the above political forces occurred in the first half of 2012, while Murtazaliev and Amirov were the only candidates for the presidency of the republic.
Earlier, evidencing at the trial, Magomed Abdulgalimov, the ex-Assistant of the Prosecutor of Kizlyar, said that Said Amirov had promised him the post of Mayor of Kaspiysk in exchange for assistance in acquisition of a "Strela-2M" man-portable air defence system (MANPADS). However, Abdulgalimov fulfilled Amirov's request only partially: he got the weapon, but when he heard that it was intended for committing a terror act aimed to physically liquidate Sagid Murtazaliev, the head of the Pension Fund of Dagestan, he refused to hand it over to the customer.
Amirov also told the court that the case against him was a total falsification and added that multiple attempts had been committed on him; then, the customers thereof fabricated the case against him and Djaparov.
