Sochi residents: authorities demand to demolish architectural monument "Uspensky's House" (+video)
In Sochi, tenants of the "Uspensky's House" located in Teatralnaya Street treat as unlawful and impractical the order to demolish their house, which is the monument of history and architecture. The order to demolish the house was voiced by Sergey Pavlenko, the head of the administration of the Central District of Sochi. The tenants of the house demand to cancel the order instructing to demolish the house.
"Our house was built in 1884. This year, it celebrates its 130th anniversary. The house is listed in the state register of monuments of cultural heritage. It is well-known as the 'Uspensky's House'. Grigory Uspensky was a manager of the imperial residence in Dagomys. However, during its whole history of 130 years, the house underwent no capital repairs. We are ringing the bells for a long time; however, local officials refuse to respond. We accumulated a lot of formal replies," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Tatiana Onypko, a tenant of the house and a representative of other tenants.
"In 2011, in their formal responses, the local officials came to such nonsense that, instead of restoring the monument of history, they began to demand from us to demolish it with our own hands," said Valentina Kuznetsova, a tenant of the house.
The housing inspectorate of Sochi has started checking the order about demolition of the house.
