Official of South Ossetian CEC confirms victory of "United Ossetia" at parliamentary elections
Following the results of the voting, the "United Ossetia" Party has won the elections to the Parliament of South Ossetia. This was reported by an official of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of South Ossetia. According to the CEC, the "Unity of the People", the "People's" Party, and the "Nykhas" Party also got seats at the Parliament.

According to the final results of the elections, the "United Ossetia" Party gets 20 out of 34 seats in the Parliament of South Ossetia. The "Unity of the People" Party gets six seats, while each of the "People's" Party and the "Nykhas" Party gets four places. This was reported by the RIA "Novosti" with reference to officials of the South Ossetian CEC.
The European Union (EU) has not recognized the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections held in South Ossetia. This was reported on June 8 by the EU foreign policy service.
The EU's refusal to recognize the elections in South Ossetia as legitimate is connected with the EU's support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, the RIA "Novosti" quotes the message the EU diplomatic service as alluding.
The Georgian government also refuses to recognize the legitimacy of the elections held in South Ossetia. This was announced on June 9 by David Zalkaliani, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
