Dagestani law enforcers present false version on circumstances of Khanmirza Ashurbekov's death, his relatives assert

Khanmirza Ashurbekov was killed in the shootout that occurred on the Buynaksk-Untsukul highway. This was confirmed by his family members. The Khanmirza Ashurbekov's relatives do not believe the official version on the shootout presented by law enforcers. This was stated by one of the Khanmirza Ashurbekov's relatives. According to a source from the investigating agencies, the man was suspected of aiding and abetting members of illegal armed formations (IAFs).

Let us remind you that on June 9, in Makhachkala, Khanmirza Ashurbekov, a local resident, disappeared. According to his wife, the last time he called her in the morning, when he was driving back home in a Kia Sorento car.

On June 9, the shootout occurred on the Buynaksk-Untsukul highway. Policemen tried to check a parked Kia Sorento car. However, the driver opened fire on them and was killed by return fire. This was reported by the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). According to the investigator, the killed man was identified as Khanmirza Ashurbekov, a resident of Dagestan.

One of the Khanmirza Ashurbekov's relatives has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the family members do not believe the official version on the shootout presented by the law enforcers, since "on the day of his kidnapping, they were unofficially informed that Khanmirza Ashurbekov was detained and that he was being kept at the Centre for Combating Extremism."

According to his relative, Khanmirza Ashurbekov was not involved in anything unlawful. The law enforcers paid attention to him, since he was a follower of the Salafi trend of Islam.
