NAC: militants killed in KBR were involved in killings in Stavropol Territory
Today, at 6:15 a.m. Moscow time, the dwelling settlements of Zalukodes, Zolskoe, Svetlovodskoe and Shardakovo of the Zolsky District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) were put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. During a special operation in the forest in the outskirt of Svetlovodskoe, three militants who opened fire at law enforcers were killed.
The casualties were identified as Arthur Margushev, who had been on the federal wanted list since December 2013, his relative Rustam Margushev and earlier convicted Marat Tembotov.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the KBR's operational headquarters that the militants took refuge in a dugout, when they were detected by law enforcers. They reacted with fire to the proposal to surrender and wounded two soldiers of the Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
According to the Russia's Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the killed militants were involved in a variety of crimes, including attempts on law enforcers, killings of civilians, and extortion of large sums of money from businessmen under the threat of physical execution. Also, according to the NAC, the casualties were members of the grouping, which killed on January 8 six residents of the Stavropol Territory, who worked as private taxi drivers.
