Budyonnovsk commemorates casualties of June 1995 terror act
Today, the city of Budyonnovsk in the Stavropol Territory has held mourning events dedicated to the tragic events of June 1995. The actions were held near the building of the local OVD (Interior Division), in Memory Mini-Park and at the monument to fallen helicopter pilots, while the city temples conducted requiem services.
On June 14, 1995, a group of militants led by Shamil Basaev attacked residents and organizations in Budyonnovsk and captured the central city hospital. As a result of the terror act, 129 people were killed.
The worships in the temples of Budyonnovsk started today at 8:00 a.m. Moscow time; and at 8:40 they held requiem services. At 9:00 the city began mourning rallies with laying flowers; and at 12:20 a minute of silence was held, announced by sirens of public transport, the online resource "Budennovsk.org" reports.
