Four UNM activists hospitalized in Georgia after attack of unidentified persons

At night on Sunday, June 15, a motorcade of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party was attacked by unidentified hooligans who threw stones at the cars. Four activists of the party were taken to hospital, said a UNM source.

The incident occurred in the Krtsanisi District, where the motorcade was driving to support a local candidate from the UNM.

The attack resulted in hospitalization of party activists Lasha Rukhaya, Mary Shamatava, Mikhail Shamoev and Giorgi Sibashvili with different traumas to the Chachava Hospital, the "Georgia-News" reports citing its source from the UNM, who added that the party accused activists of the ruling coalition "Georgian Dream" of the assault and believed that the attackers acted on the instructions of the authorities.

Let us remind you that on the eve of the voting day, the Georgian NGOs – the "International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy", "Transparency International-Georgia" and the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association – said that the pre-election situation before the municipal elections in Georgia had deteriorated since the 2013 presidential election. The situation in the country was aggravated by clashes of political opponents.
