Alexander Bastrykin reports on solving murders of Judges Shapiev and Madanov in Dagestan

The Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has solved the murders of Zainudin Madanov, Judge of the Lenin District Court of Makhachkala, and Mukhtar Shapiev, Judge of the Supreme Court of Dagestan, and his son. This was reported by Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the ICRF.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 25, 2013, in Makhachkala, armed persons attacked Judge Mukhtar Shapiev and his son. They were injured and died in hospital. Investigators associate the murder with the Judge's professional activities. On November 4, 2013, unidentified assailants shot and killed Judge Zainudin Madanov in his car. The basic version of his murder was also associated with his professional activities.

"We have identified persons involved in the crimes. They are the leader and active members of the criminal grouping 'Makhachkala'. Court has issued resolutions to involve them in the criminal cases as defendants," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Alexander Bastrykin as stating.

The Chairman of the ICRF has emphasized that at the request of the investigators, the court arrested in absentia the defendants in the case. They were put on the federal wanted list. Later, they were killed during the detention, since they rendered armed resistance.
