In Yerevan, policemen detain activist Astkhik Agakyan near Afrikyan's Clubhouse (+video)

In Yerevan, the Armenian policemen detained activist Astkhik Agakyan near the Afrikyan's Clubhouse. The policemen handcuffed the woman, forced her into a police car and took away to the police station. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

It has been reported that on June 17, a team of workers started to dismantle the facade of the Afrikyan's Clubhouse located in No. 11 in Teryan Street. Activists of the initiative group tried to stop the work of the builders. Activist Sona Asatryan began disrupting the panels of woven fabric installed by the workers. Law enforcers who arrived to the building detained Sona Asatryan and took her to the police station of Yerevan. Later, the activist was released.

According to a policeman, Agakyan "has violated public order by inflicting damage to the other people's property."

The members of the initiative group "Save Afrikyan's Clubhouse" are on duty near the building. They held their watch every day from 9:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m.

It has also been reported that the Armenian Office of the Transparency International Anticorruption Centre has sent a letter to the General Prosecutor and the Chief of the Armenian Police and asked to investigate the fact of destruction of the monument.
