More than half of refugees from Ukraine arrive in SFD's regions, Russian MfE reports

More than 11,000 out of about 19,000 citizens of Ukraine, who arrived in Russia, are admitted in the regions of the Southern Federal District (SFD). This was reported by Alexander Drobyshevsky, Spokesman of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE). According to the source, on the past day, 97 newcomers from Ukraine have applied to the Russian MfE asking to grant them a status of refugee.

According to the Russian MfE, more than half of newcomers stayed with their relatives and friends, and the temporary accommodation centres (TACs) "accommodate 8800 people, including more than 4500 children."

Interdepartmental groups of the Russian MfE control the arrival of citizens of Ukraine, their registration and accommodation. Alexander Drobyshevsky has stressed that in case of need, the MfE is ready to organize TACs also in the Ural and Volga Federal Districts.

Let us remind you that, as of June 18, 48 municipalities of the Rostov Region had accommodated 7294 refugees from Ukraine, including 2850 children.

Earlier, human rights defenders, who are working in the region, have noted that, despite the fact that the authorities overstate figures on the number of refugees; the admission system is still to be improved.
