During the visit of advocate Elena Bairamkulova, Murat Kunashev, a resident of the village of Dugulubgei of the Baksan District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), who was detained on June 18, has written a complaint that he gave confession under torture. The advocate has appealed to the prosecutor, the Chief of the Investigating department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the KBR and human rights defenders and asked to defend her client.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murat Kunashev (earlier, his surname was given as "Kuashev") was detained after a search of his house, which was conducted by several dozens of armed men. During the search, they declared they found a grenade. The father of Murat Kunashev has claimed his son was subjected to torture.

Advocate Elena Bairamkulova, who visited Murat Kunashev at the Baksan OVD (Interior Division), claims that her client had written a complaint in the conditions of confidentiality, in which he had described the reason for his waiver of advocate. In his complaint, the detainee also notes that during the search, the armed men tortured him with electric current.

Earlier, the KBR’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported on the detention of a local resident in the village of Dugulubgei. According to the MIA, during the search of his house and yard, the local resident rendered resistance, ran out of the house and tried to escape. However, he was caught. When law enforcers searched him, they found a grenade, a fuse, and 20 rounds.
