In the evening on June 21, at the Russia's General Consulate in Istanbul, an action of Circassian community was held in protest against persecution of Andzor Akhokhov, the organizer of the anti-Olympic action held on February 7 in Nalchik. The protest was about 60 people strong, Selchuk Baglar, one of the protesters, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 7, in Nalchik, policemen suppressed a protest action against the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In total, 29 people were detained; and six of which, including Akhokhov, were punished by administrative arrest.

"Today’s action in Istanbul was organized by the public movement named 'Circassian Initiative'. On the 21st day of every month we go out to hold actions, which condemn the genocide of Circassians committed by the Russian Empire," said Baglar.

The protesters in Istanbul demanded to stop the persecution of Akhokhov and other Circassian activists. They held posters reading in Russian and English "Andzor Akhokhov, you are not alone!", the Turkish edition "Ozgurcerkes.com" reports.
