Law enforcers began persecuting Ilmudin Gasanov after his nephew's murder, his relatives say

Power agents began persecuting Ilmudin Gasanov, who disappeared on June 20 inDagestan, after the murder in 2008 of his nephew Khalid, who had joined militants. This was reported by Gasanov's relatives, who cannot find his whereabouts for four days, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has reported today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 20, at about midday, as reported by eyewitnesses, unidentified men kidnapped Ilmudin Gasanov in the village of Uzunotar of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan. The kidnapping was committed by the men who arrived in an armoured Gazel van, which then departed in the direction of Makhachkala, the eyewitnesses said.

According to the HRC "Memorial", Ilmudin Gasanov's relatives submitted applications about his disappearance to the prosecutor's offices of Khasavyurt and Khasavyurt District and to investigating authorities. They also signed an agreement on defence of Gasanov's interests with the lawyer Selim Magomedov.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from the police of the Khasavyurt District about the kidnapping and preceding persecutions of Ilmudin Gasanov.
