Rostov Region: "Union of Don Women" appealed against court's decision on "foreign agent"

The "Union of Don Women" has filed an appeal against the decision of the Novocherkassk City Court of the Rostov Region on recognising the NGO as a "foreign agent". The session to consider the appeal should take place within two months, Ildar Shafiev, the lawyer for the Union, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that he had submitted the appeal to the above City Court on June 16.

"The complaint is on 14 pages. Generally, I'm not fond of writing long complaints; on the contrary, I try to be brief. But this time I had quite a lot to say. Firstly, the complaint deals with the examination held by the court. I gave details of my disagreement with its results. I'll not talk about its biased nature, because it's subjective. Though, in my opinion, the order was given and duly fulfilled," said the lawyer.

Let us remind you that the Law of the Russian Federation "On Non-Governmental Organizations", adopted by the State Duma of the Russian Federation on July 13, 2012, demands from the NGOs, which are financed from abroad and engaged in political activities, to get registered as "foreign agents". The law was criticized by human rights organizations.
