Magamed Iliev, Ingush envoy in VFD, found guilty of fraud
Today, the Frunze District Court of the Saratov Region has found Magamed Iliev, the plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Ingushetia in the Volga Federal District (VFD), guilty of a large-scale fraud and sentenced him to 5.5 years in a general security colony. The second defendant in the case – Maria Akhlupkina – was sentenced to 4.5 years in same-type colony.
On the eve of announcing the verdict, Maria Akhlupkina, the main figurant in the case, made a video appeal to the leaders of power bodies, in which she told about the fabrication of a criminal case against her and Iliev, and accused employees of the Chief Department of Economic Security and Counteracting Corruption (known as GUEBiPK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of plotting it.
The defence of Iliev intends to appeal against the today's decision of the Frunze District Court.
"We were ready for the guilty verdict, but given the absolute unjustified position of the prosecution, we hoped that the court would take into account the defence's arguments. Anyway, we will appeal against this decision after consultation with all advocates," Konstatntin Silkin, advocate of Magamed Iliev, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
