Chechen official announces political nature of policeman's murder in Grozny
In Grozny, the murder of a police ensign was committed not because of hooliganism. The policeman was killed by a militant. This opinion was expressed by Akhmed Dakaev, Director of the Department of the Administration of the Chechen leader and Chechen Government for cooperation with law enforcement and power agencies. Local residents note the murder got a great public response.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 22, in the centre of Grozny, Akhmed Dopaev, a staff member of the patrol-and-post service (known as PPS) was killed by a shot to the back of his head.
"This is a very resonant murder. This is a brazen murder. The investigation into the case is on the special control of the Chechen leader. Ramzan Kadyrov said he would pay a cash reward to anyone who can indicate the whereabouts of the murderer. At present, staff members of the Urus-Martan UVD (Interior Department) work under enhanced regime. Investigators got a video record, which shows the face of the criminal quite clearly. The earlier reported information that the murder had been committed by one of the militants killed several days ago does not represent the real facts," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Akhmed Dakaev.
