Russian Government: refugee centres accommodate 25,000 Ukrainian citizens, most of them in South of Russia

Russia has deployed in its territory 262 temporary accommodation centres (TACs) for refugees from Ukraine. And at present, the TACs accommodate about 25,000 people. This was reported by Olga Golodets, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, at the meeting of the Russian President with the Cabinet of Ministers held on June 25. Most of the refugee camps and TACs are located in the regions of southern Russia.

"The border regions feel the main burden," Dmitry Kozak, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, told journalists on June 25.

Meanwhile, most of newly arrived people have no refugee status. According to Dmitry Kozak, until present, 95,000 citizens appealed to the federal agencies for determination of their status.

"I asked you to think over how we can help people who appeared to be in the zone of conflict and who arrive in our territory. It is clear that the flow and the number of refugees reach such a level that the regions find that difficult to deal with the situation by themselves only," the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" quotes Vladimir Putin as stating at the meeting with the members of the Russian Government.

At the meeting the Cabinet was instructed to develop measures to support the regions, in which refugees arrive from Ukraine, the "FederalPress" reports.
