In Rostov-on-Don, prosecutor asks Court to sentence Said Amirov to 13 years of imprisonment
In Rostov-on-Don, at the North-Caucasian District Military Court, a prosecutor has delivered his speech at the trial on the case against Said Amirov, Mayor of Makhachkala, temporary dismissed from office and accused of plotting a terror act. The prosecutor asked the Court to sentence Said Amirov to 13 years of imprisonment to be served in a high-security penal colony.
On April 24, the Court started the trial in the case on the preparation for the terror act. According to investigators, the defendants Said Amirov and his nephew Yusup Djaparov had planned to use the MANPADS (Man-Portable Air-Defence Systems) to shoot down a passenger plane, which was supposed to carry Saigid Murtazaliev, the head of the Russia's Pension Fund in Dagestan. The investigators believe that Said Amirov treated Saigid Murtazaliev as his political opponent. The defendants pleaded not guilty.
During the today's pleadings at the trial, the prosecutor stated that the guilt of Said Amirov and Yusup Djaparov had been proved both during the preliminary investigation and during the court proceedings.
The prosecutor asked the Court to classify the actions committed by Said Amirov as preparation for the crime and to sentence him to 13 years of imprisonment to be served in a high-security penal colony, followed by restriction of freedom for a term of two years. As far as Yusup Djaparov is concerned, the prosecutor asked the Court to sentence the defendant to 11 years of imprisonment to be served in a high-security penal colony, followed by restriction of freedom for one year and six months.
