Stolyarov, suspended Mayor of Astrakhan, hospitalized; his trial postponed
Mikhail Stolyarov, the temporarily dismissed Mayor of Astrakhan, accused of receiving a large bribe, was placed into a prison hospital. The today's court session on his case has been postponed, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the courtroom.
The defendant is in the hospital of the Correction Colony No. 2, said the Judge Natalia Senchenko and added: "He has an aggravation of his chronic diseases and placed into hospital to take his planned treatment."
She appointed the next session for July 8.
According to investigators, in October 2013, when being the Mayor of Astrakhan Stolyarov tried to extort from a businessman a bribe of 10 million roubles and a share in the statute capital in exchange of help in allotting a land plot. On November 22, he was temporarily removed from office. Stolyarov stated his innocence and refused to cooperate with investigators.
