At presentation of book "Three Days in August", Ali Kamalov promises to bring to justice all murderers of Dagestani journalists

On June 24, Moscow hosted the presentation of the book entitled "Three Days in August". It has been compiled by Nadezhda Azhgikhina, Secretary of the Russian Union of Journalists, and Catherine Timer-Nepomnyaschaya, Professor of the Columbia University. The book is devoted to the events that took place in the Soviet Union on August 19-21, 1991. Participants of the presentation have recalled the events that preceded the collapse of the Soviet Union. They have also recalled the journalists, who worked at that time, and their colleagues, who perished in recent years in Dagestan. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ali Kamalov, Chairman of the Dagestani Union of Journalists, has delivered his speech at the presentation. When giving the floor to Ali Kamalov, Nadezhda Azhgikhina reminded the audience that during the past decade, more than 10 journalists were killed in Dagestan.

According to the Dagestani Union of Journalists, during the past twenty years, 16 journalists were killed in Dagestan. Of them, 11 journalists were killed in 2008-2013.

When speaking about the situation with the investigation into the murders of journalists, Ali Kamalov has emphasized that some murderers have already been caught and some are still hiding from justice. "We have no doubts that the journalists' murderers will be found and punished," Ali Kamalov has concluded.
