In Baku, OSCE PA adopts declaration in support for territorial integrity of Ukraine
At the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA), held in Baku, a resolution was adopted saying about the need to observe the principles of inviolability of state borders and expressing support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 23rd session of the OSCE PA was held in Baku from June 28 to July 2. At the start of it, a draft resolution condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine was presented.
The authors of the declaration call on the Russian Federation to cancel the annexation of the Crimea, declare a serious security concerns caused by military operations on the border of the two countries, the offer Russia to get engaged in the dialogue within in the framework of international meetings.
Besides, the OSCE calls to prevent the use of territories of the member states of the OSCE for the purpose of cross-border attacks on the civilian population in Syria.
The Declaration was adopted by 99 votes "for" and one vote "against"; other nine members abstained. The Russian delegation refused to take part in voting as an act of protest, the "Interfax-Ukraine" reports.
The session outcomes were negative for Russia, although during the discussion of the draft resolution the Russian delegation managed to soften some of its provisions, "Izvestia" writes with reference to Vasily Likhachov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and a member of the delegation.
