In Karachaevsk, detainee Magomed Bidjiev cuts his veins

In Karachaevsk, Magomed Bidjiev, a detainee kept at the local IVS (temporary detention facility), has cut his veins because of psychological pressure put upon him by investigators and policemen. This was stated by Bela Gappoeva, an advocate from the Karachay-Cherkessian National Advocates' Chamber.

According to Bela Gappoeva, on July 4, Magomed Bidjiev, a resident of the city of Ust-Djegut, born in 1991, cut his veins in the IVS of the "Karachay" OMVD (Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - MIA).

"He was rendered surgical care. Doctors stitched his veins and put eight stitches," Bela Gappoeva has told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about the incident.

According to the advocate, Magomed Bidjiev has told her that he was subjected to pressure by one of the staff members of the employees "Karachay" OMVD. Bela Gappoeva has claimed the policeman demanded that the detainee should waive the advocate.

"I am preparing a complaint to the Russian General Prosecutor's Office and the Prosecutor's Office of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) against permanent mental and psychological pressure on Magomed Bidjiev," Bela Gappoeva has stated.

Officials from the "Karachay" OMVD deny that Magomed Bidjiev has been ever subjected to any psychological and mental pressure.
