Azerbaijani opposition founds new party
Today, in Azerbaijan, the creation of new opposition "Free Democrats" Party has been announced. Sulkhaddin Akper has been elected its Chairman.
The "Free Democrats" Party was created on the basis of the "Open Society" Party (OSP), which was established in 2007 and led by Rasul Guliev, ex-Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament. Since 1997, Rasul Guliev is a forced migrant, and he lives in the United States. In 2013, Rasul Guliev suspended his political activities. In late 2013, the leaders of the OSP announced the creation of the organizing committee to create a new "Free Democrats" Party.
Today, in Baku, the "Free Democrats" Party (FDP) has held the founding conference. It was attended by more than 200 delegates. Sulkhaddin Akper has been elected the Chairman of the FDP. Earlier, he held the same position in the OSP. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
