On July 16, Krasnodar Territorial Court to consider prosecutors' protest on replacement of Vitishko's conditional imprisonment for real one

The consideration of the petition lodged by Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory demanding to cancel the decision of the Tuapse District Court to place the ecologist Evgeny Vitishko for three years into a colony-settlement was scheduled by the Krasnodar Territorial Court for July 16, Alexander Popkov, Vitishko's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 20, 2012, Evgeny Vitishko, a member of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch), was sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment probation on charges of damaging the fence around the land plot, known as the "dacha" of the Krasnodar Governor Alexander Tkachov. However, on December 20, 2013, the Tuapse District Court replaced the ecologist's conditional term for real imprisonment; and he was convoyed to a colony-settlement in the Tambov Region.

Meanwhile, Vitishko's colleagues are holding an online collection of signatures to the petition addressed to the chairs of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Krasnodar Territorial Court with a call to "abolish the illegal decision of the Tuapse City Court to replace Evgeny Vitishko's conditional term for real one."

"We demand to consider the case fully, objectively and comprehensively, and to recognize the above court decisions on replacing Evgeny Vitishko's punishment as unjust and illegal, as well as his convoying to the Tambov Region," the authors of the petition write.
