Law enforcers shot dead suspect of killing policeman in Grozny without warning, eyewitnesses assert

On July 3, in Grozny, law enforcers killed Khusein Dakhtaev, who was suspected of the murder of a staff member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). Residents of the Chechen capital state that the suspect was shot dead without any warning.

In the morning of July 3, Khusein Dakhtaev, a 27-year-old native of the village of Alkhan-Yurt of the Urus-Martan District was killed in the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny. Earlier, Khusein Dakhtaev had been put on the wanted list for the murder of Akhmed Dopaev, an inspector of the patrol-and-post service (known as PPS) of the Chechen MIA, who was killed on June 22 in the centre of Grozny.

"I and my neighbour witnessed how they shot and killed the guy, who was allegedly wanted for the murder of a policeman. He was standing at the bus stop, to where we were going with my friend to go to work, and he had a small bag in his hands. Then, law enforcers suddenly approached the bus stop and began shooting at him without any warning. He probably did not even have time to understand anything," said a woman, a resident of Grozny.

Law enforcement officials, meanwhile, claim that Khusein Dakhtaev made an attempt to render armed resistance, and he was killed by return fire.
