In Azerbaijan, police arrest man involved in incident with shaving believer's beard
In Azerbaijan, Ramzi Zeinalov, a resident of the town of Sabirabad, has been arrested for two months on a charge of disorderly conduct in connection with the incident with shaving a believer's beard. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Ibragim Ibragimov, Assistant Prosecutor of the Sabirabad District.
On July 4, someone posted on the YouTube a video record entitled "In Sabirabad, a Wahhabi got his beard shaved off". Judging by its quality, the video record was shot by a mobile phone; and it shows aggressive actions against a middle-aged man with a beard. Some people hold his hands, while a man is cutting his beard with scissors and insulting him for coming to Sabirabad. People around the group are using foul language, and a listener can hear the phrases: "They act even worse towards our people." Later, the man, who was cutting the victim's beard, hit the victim several times and warned him not to appear in Sabirabad anymore.
On July 7, criminal proceedings were instituted against Djavanshir Zeinalov. He was charged under Article 221.1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code. On the same day, the Sabirabad District Court has pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure against Djavanshir Zeinalov in the form of arrest for two months.
