In Chechnya, case of "honour killing" is brought to court
In Chechnya, the criminal case against a resident of the Urus-Martan District, who is accused of killing his younger sister, has been brought to the court. Investigators believe that the man has committed a so-called "honour killing". The suspect has confessed to the crime. This was reported by officials from the Chechen law enforcement agencies.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 23, 2013, a 19-year-old woman, a resident of the village of Tangi-Chu of the Urus-Martan District, was found dead in the basement of her brother's house.
The victim's brother, a 30-year-old resident of the Urus-Martan District, is accused of the murder.
The investigators believe that the man strangled his sister, since, in his opinion, she behaved disgracefully, hid her body in the basement of his house and fled. "Prior to his disappearance, the murderer contacted his older sister and told her that the young woman, whom he had killed, left home and never returned," a law enforcer said. According to him, the elder sister did not believe his brother, came to his house and found the body of the young woman.
On July 8, the criminal case against the defendant was brought to the court. The trial is to begin within the next several weeks. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the Chechen law enforcer.
