NGO: violations fixed on the eve of second round of municipal elections in Georgia
The NGO "Fair Elections" reports about pre-election violations registered before the second round of elections to local self-government bodies in Georgia. In particular, rights defenders have revealed facts of illegal campaigning and pressure on officials and candidates.
The activists of the NGO have revealed a fact of pre-election agitation of a representative of the Orthodox Church of Georgia. Besides, they also fixed a fact of pressure, exerted by the deputy head of the Terdjol district administration on the representative of the village of Chognari to persuade him to leave the office, the "Georgia Online" quotes the statement of the above NGO.
Besides, the statement reported that the head of the electoral office of the "United National Movement" had been detained.
Let us remind you that the first round of local elections was held on June 15. On July 12, during the second round, voters will elect Mayors of eight cities and 13 heads of district administrations.
