More than 60 people collect help to refugees in South Ossetia
The city of Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, has opened a centre for collection of humanitarian aid for the people who left the area of the antiterrorist operation conducted now in the Lugansk and Donetsk Regions of Ukraine. Residents of South Ossetia are bringing clothes, personal hygiene items, toys and household appliances. For two days the centre was visited by more than 60 local residents, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The collection centre was opened on July 9 on the initiative of the headquarters set up in the republic for helping refugees, headed by Deputy Prime Minister of South Ossetia Eric Pukhaev.
"The people of our republic know not from hearsay what the war and its consequences are. We also once lived in the shoes of refugees, namely, in 1991 and in August 2008, when the warfare was unfolded here. Then we were supported by ordinary people from different cities. Today, it's our turn to exhibit understanding and support those who are in need of care," Marina Dzgoeva, a resident of Tskhinvali, shared her thoughts with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
On July 14, the humanitarian aid will be sent to forced migrants to Rostov Region.
