Volgograd: refugees from Ukraine need some coordination body to address their problems

The participants of the roundtable held in Volgograd on July 11 stated the need to set up some coordination body to address the problems of the Ukrainians who had arrived in the region. Refugees have addressed the local Ombudsman and the Pension Fund.

"Now, mainly people from the Donetsk Region come to Russia. After being here for three weeks, we have formulated a letter, which lists the problems of refugees who come to all Russian regions, not the Volgograd one only. Now we seek to build a dialogue between those who came and those who were born and live here. We're not waiting for guarantees; and we don't want to be freeloaders here – we'd like to help in solving problems and work with people in localities. To do this, we need to expand our initiative group in order to reach other accommodation places and set up some centre of our Donetsk commonality," said Ekaterina Abbasova, who came from Lugansk and now lives in the "Volzhskaya" tourist camp.

The government of the region has received the above letter, Olga Grigorieva, Deputy Minister for State Property Management of the Volgograd Region, said at the roundtable.

"Indeed, we need some coordinating council – communication through leaders is more reasonable," she said.
