KBR: advocate Ruslan Khadjiev asks prosecutors to prevent violation of his rights

Ruslan Khadjiev, an advocate of the Advocates' Chamber Bar of Kabardino-Balkaria, has appealed to Oleg Zharikov, Prosecutor of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), asking him to take appropriate steps in connection with the violation of his rights as a defender in the criminal case against local resident Rustam Kagazezhev.

On June 12, Rustam Kagazezhev reported that he was called by an investigator of the Nalchik police department, who demanded to immediately visit him in his office. This was stated in the appeal of Ruslan Khadjiev sent to the Prosecutor, to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) of the KBR, and to the HRC "Memorial".

The appeal sent by the advocate states that the investigator had prepared a document against him. In the document, Tamazov indicates that Ruslan Khadjiev has forced Rustam Kagazezhev, suspected of a crime under Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal purchase and possession of narcotic substances), to give false testimony.

Ruslan Khadjiev continues to represent Rustam Kagazezhev's interests as an advocate. Ruslan Khadjiev himself told it to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The advocate has explained that in case if a kind of material is selected against an advocate on the grounds of an offense, the decision to institute criminal proceedings will be made after the check is completed.
