Yunus-Bek Evkurov orders to solve problems of IDPs in Karabulak until August 10

On July 2, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the leader of Ingushetia, met refugees in Karabulak. After the meeting, he has ordered to dismiss from office an official from the city administration for his ill-treatment of internally displaced persons (IDPs). Yunus-Bek Evkurov has also instructed his subordinates to solve the problem of the women, who attended the meeting, concerning their accommodation and obtaining a status of IDPs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Karabulak, a building of the former kindergarten "Ryabinka" had become one of the temporary accommodation centres (TACs) for refugees and IDPs. The authorities claim that the families living in the building 66 people in total have already received the state support or have other housing and should leave the building. The refugees claim they are being provided with unsuitable housing and refuse to move out.

Several refugees presented the information about compensation that contradicted the information of the officials who attended the meeting. Yunus-Bek Evkurov has instructed his subordinates to check the information.

The Karabulak city administration has no right to evict people from the building of the kindergarten "Ryabinka", since from a legal point of view the building is not a property of the city administration. This opinion has been expressed by Ruslan Mutsolgov, an advocate of the human rights organization "Mashr".

Meanwhile, Muslim Yandiev, the head of the Karabulak city administration, has stated that some people "still cherish strong dependency mentality." According to the official, the republic does its best to "improve the situation of refugees and IDPs."
