Batyr Pukhaev, former MP of South Ossetia, goes on hunger strike in Tskhinvali IVS
Batyr Pukhaev and his brother Igor Pukhaev were detained on July 11; and on July 14, the Tskhinvali Court ruled to arrest them for two months and place them into the temporary detention facility (known as IVS) in Tskhinvali. The brothers are charged with treason and a putsch attempt, as well as with cooperation with the temporary administration of South Ossetia set up in Tbilisi, the "OS-Inform" reports.
The Pukhaev brothers treat their arrest as politically motivated; therefore, Batyr Pukhaev, who is suffering from diabetes, announced an indefinite hunger strike on Wednesday, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
