250 signatures to appeal demanding to investigate Natalia Estemirova's murder handed over to ICRF
Human rights activists have collected 250 signatures to the petition addressed to the leadership of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) with a demand to make every effort to investigate the murder of Natalia Estemirova, an employee of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"; the signatures have been sent to the ICRF.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 15, on the fifth anniversary of Estemirova's murder, an action was held in Moscow "Flowers for Natalia", organized by activists of the human rights organization Amnesty International (AI), who disseminated flower seedlings among passersby and collected signatures to the above petition.
As reported by Sergey Nikitin, Director of the AI's representative office in Russia, they managed to collect about 250 signatures.
Solo pickets in memory of Natalia Estemirova were also held by activists of the Saint Petersburg branch of the "Yabloko" Party and of the human rights organization "House of Peace and Non-Violence", said Elena Vilenskaya, the leader of the latter.
According to Kirill Koroteev, a senior lawyer of the HRC "Memorial", according to the data at his disposal, there is no progress in the investigation of the murder, while "investigators continue insisting on their adopted false version of the murder."
